Certified Energy Services Ltd. is a privately owned and operated oilfield service company based out of Estevan Saskatchewan. Certified provides high quality, safe and reliable well servicing operations to SE Saskatchewan and SW Manitoba. Highly trusted in the oil and gas sector and a major provider to all Potash companies in Saskatchewan. Privately owned and operated we pride ourselves on reliable and competent employees with a high execution of standard of service. DAVE ODGERS

PRESIDENT

Mr. Odgers has been involved in the South East Saskatchewan oilfield his entire life. Growing up on a cattle farm north of Oxbow, SK, he started as a service rig floor hand at the age of 16 working summers through high school and then college. In 1995 Mr. Odgers joined Producers Pipelines Inc. (purchased and later renamed Enbridge Pipelines) as their first Information Systems Analyst. In this lead role, he planned, developed and supported the company’s local IT infrastructure which included field communication and data capture, all while sitting on the company’s Occupational Health and Safety committee for 8 years.

 

In 2008 Mr.Odgers helped found Paragon Energy Services in Saskatchewan, being in charge of all operations and sales. Paragon primarily supplied the local drilling industry with surface rental equipment. The company quickly gained market share with a reputation for being honest and fair with customers. In Feb 2010, only 2 years since inception, Paragon was sold to Black Diamond Energy Services, with shareholders getting a return of more than 5 times their original investment.

 

In 2010 Mr. Odgers along with three local businessmen incorporated Certified Energy Services. In three years the company has grown from operating one service rig to six. In 2014 Certified Energy Services expanded their extensive experience from the oilfield to caverns and potash operating four rigs.

 

Mr. Odgers contributes years of oilfield experience all while participating in membership meetings for the Saskatchewan division of CAODC. 

CARL HENNEBERG

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Mr. Henneberg has over thirty years of oil and gas financial experience. He has been the Chief Financial Officer for a number of successful oilfield companies based in South East Saskatchewan including Upton Resouces and Keystone Energy. He joined Certified Energy Services in June 2011 as CFO. He is responsible for the accounting, banking, and administrative functions for the company.

 

Mr. Henneberg received a B. Admin from the University of Regina in 1980, and became a Chartered Accountant in 1982. He has sat on the board of directors of the Small Explorers and Producers Association of Canada and served as Chairman of its Saskatchewan Committee for 15 years in addition to being Treasurer of Estevan OTS since 1995.

MICHAEL SCHMIDT

FIELD SUPERINTENDENT 

After 9 years of working on service rigs in the United States and Canada, Michael started with Certified Energy Services as their first rig manager assisting management with the new build of Rig 1 in May of 2011. He completed a variety of work including stripping jobs, completions, work overs, disposals, screw pumps/reta pumps, fracs, and clean outs. 


Michael has been included in the process of helping develop, audit, and grow our safety program. It has proven to eliminate down time and promote a safe work environment that encourages learning and enabling employees to safely be promoted within the company.
Michael participated in the development of the OHS committee and he is currently the management committee co-chair. In this position his duties include handling incident investigations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency with procedural amendments that are being made.


As the fleet at the mine and in Estevan grew from 1 Rig to 6 Rigs additional tasks Michael handled were:

 

  • Performing inventories of operating supplies for both the rigs and downhole equipment

  • Rebuilding downhole equipment including milling and tubing recovery equipment

  • Coordinating deliveries and inventory stock levels

  • Developing and implementing our own competency training and tracking program for workers in all positions

  • Verifying all purchase confirmations; assigning and issuing PO’s

  • Monitoring and scheduling of equipment CVIPs and scheduling of regular maintenance

June of 2019 Michael was promoted to Field Superintendent. His duties include assisting the rig crews in all aspects of trouble shooting day to day operations, coordinating permits, rig moves and daily audits to our safety program, performing rig inspections, equipment and maintenance audits, and looks after selecting and hiring new employees.
